Geographic distribution: This species is only recorded from New Caledonia where Hattori (1977, 1984a) recorded it from several localities.
Notes:
Hattori (1986a) provided the following key to distinguish between the two species, Frullaniascalaris and F. pseudomeyeniana:
Leaves nearly scalariform (i.e. lamina nearly vertical to the stem); lobules contiguous to the stem with heads[1]; perianth with 8, rarely 6 or 7, plicae ................................................... Frullaniascalaris
Leaves not scalariform (but branch leaves often scalariform); lobules remote from, and subparallel with the stem; perianths 5-6 plicate........................................................ Frullaniapseudomeyeniana
[1] The precise meaning of this is not clear, but is clarified somewhat by Hattori (1986: 233) who stated that the “lobules are contiguous to and parallel with, or leaning with the heads, to the stem”.
