A dugout pond (probably dug into the fen) occurs south of the calcareous fen. The soil in the fen is mapped as Parnell silty clay loam, 0 to 1 % slopes (Pa), but is actually a muck. Campylium stellatum (yellow-green) occurs on saturated muck in the sedge mat zone. It is, Aster iunciformis, Chara sp., Lobelia kalmii, Muhlenberqia qlomerata and Scirpus acutus
