Large piles of old gravel, cobble and sand mine tailings with scattered stunted Ponderosa pine and occasional Douglas-fir, mountain hemlock; scattered patches of Arctostaphylos nevadensis, occasional Arctostaphylos patula; very sparse herbaceous vegetation, mostly Lupinus lepidus, plus Calyptridium umbellatum. On dry gravel and cobbles; more or less flat ground, a little sheltered by stunted trees.
